Is there a better word for 'tap' than 'selecione' ('select', not telling you how to select)?

Also, I am missing a translation for 'block'. It is not clear to me whether this is a block, or a verb (to block), but maybe the requester can explain what he means.

It seems you should press the plates for a few seconds to get the information althought the in this translation is said you just have to tap on the plate.

This is not a bad translation, but it is missing the translation of "block" in the original. The issue is that we don't know what part of speech "block" is here. It could be a verb or a noun. The explanation is incomplete: "You can tap on 'the' to get information". What is "the" here? Did the person making the request mean "them"? If that is the case, then "block" is a noun. Is it one block or more than one block?
Is it possible to contact the person making the request for more information?
