They may have some problems with their social skills by wasting lots of time on the computer.

They may get interested in gambling games and get into the habit of playing this kind of games.

Their bodies remain still by sitting behind the computer for a long time; as a result of this, they are likely to get physical health problems.

Because games in which violence is used are readily accessible through the internet, they may come across these and get senseless towards violence and put what they have learnt from these into practice.

Hi Mesud

A couple of questions:

- what do you mean by 'they may intent to banking game'?
- what do you mean by 'face them'?

Hi Lein,

- They may inherit a tendency to banking game

- They may come across them

Do you mean a gambling game?
I still don't understand 'intent' or 'inherit a tendency' - maybe 'develop an addiction'?

come across

Let's say "be interested in gambling games".

Dear Mesut,
Why did you use "they"?
It is "he" or "she".

"be interested in gambling games"...> "..in to the habit in the gambling games"

- This text is about children and 'they' includes both 'boys' and 'girls'

- This is meaningless. Something like 'they may love the habit in the gabling games. --> If you are into something, it means you really like it.

Hi Lein,

Could 3rd line be as follows:

Their bodies remain motionless by staying on computer for a long while; as a result of which, they are likely to get physical health problems.

I'm not sure whether 'stay' fits here. If not, consider it 'play'

Are you sure for "about children" because Türkish text is not plural ? It is about only one child. (or a person)
and do you know the meaning of " in to the habit" ?

What does it mean? Could you please write the whole sentence?

I agree with Mesud about the 3rd sentence.

I agree with merdogan, the text is not plural and it is not clear if it is about a child(-ren), perhaps it'd be better to use 'a person'.

Hi everbody

I searched the original, it's about children. And 'they' refers to 'children'. I didn't want to say 'a child may..., a child may...'.

Regarding plural or singular, I think it sounds more natural to write the English as plural. If it is in singular in Turkish, it is clearly meant as a generalised text, applying to all people / children, not just to one in particular.

As for children or adults, Mesud, could you post the link please so someone can confirm this is about children, not people in general?
(Not that I don't trust you! But the recommended thing to do on cucumis is to get at least one other person to confirm.)
Thanks!

Hi Lein

Lastly (I promise), I would like to say 'they may be prone to gambling games' for the second sentence, which I think would sound better considering the Turkish.

Sorry to trouble you.

That would sound very unusual in English. If someone is prone to playing gambling games, he is likely to play these; this still sounds strange. Do you mean 'drawn to gambling games'? (attracted to them)?

No. It should be 'be prone to'. Anyway, let's leave this as it is.
