| | Did GislaineB give any more information about this one?
P.S. Are you communicating with her in Portuguese? Her profile says that's the only language she can read. |
| | 21 Mei 2007 15:51 |
| | It's magazines front page:
Tarja Turunen:
kohu vahvisti
Tarja Turunen is a singer.
we are talking by Messenger |
| | 21 Mei 2007 15:57 |
| | But what's the article about? Was there a fuss about him/her? Or did he/she confirm it? |
| | 21 Mei 2007 16:03 |
| | It's from a metal band.
I think that is saying that some spectacle is confirmed.
"Tarja Turunen:
we can kick some asses now" |
| | 21 Mei 2007 16:03 |
| | Oh! So it's not a fuss at all! It's a show of some kind.
|
| | 21 Mei 2007 16:09 |
| | I saw that Maribel is coming back this week. I think we can wait.
kohu:sensation, rumpus, hullabaloo |
| | 22 Mei 2007 05:46 |
| | These words do not mean a show - they mean a controversy - which is it? |
| | 22 Mei 2007 09:44 |
| | Sorry Kafetzou, I am trying to say the same thing all the time...
But with Tarja Turunen, this is all wrong!!!
She was a singer in a band called Nightwish and was thrown out of the band with a nasty way last September. This created a great fuss and she had to deal with the matter in public (crying in press conference etc), it certainly was not easy. >>>that made her stronger<<< Now it makes sense, the few words in ads that try to sell the tabloids are always ambiguous (and this time I had not enough imagination).
Today's Iltalehti http://www.iltalehti.fi/viihde/200705226137654_vi.shtml tells that the name of the new singer will be published next wednesday on band's website www.nightwish.com |
| | 22 Mei 2007 16:05 |
| | OK - thanks, Maribel. Then "fuss" is definitely correct. |
| | 22 Mei 2007 16:22 |
| | Finally!
Then, the portuguese one is correct too.
Tack för hjälp,Maribel!
I wasn't saying that this is some kind of show, just an adjective for that, kafetzou. Mistake, sorry. |
| | 22 Mei 2007 16:25 |
| | No problem - I'm glad we got that straightened out (and I learned how to say "fuss confirmed" in Finnish)! |
| | 22 Mei 2007 16:33 |
| | We are ready to go finland now. HEHE
Nähdään. |
| | 23 Mei 2007 07:34 |
| | It seems that my explanations are incomprehensible
The translation should be corrected as:
"The fuss strengthened me" or "The fuss made me stronger" and in remark field that the "me" comes from the context this being a headline "Tarja Turunen: Kohu vahvisti".
I cannot change it anymore, sorry. |
| | 23 Mei 2007 13:08 |
| | This might be driving you crazy!
Is this last one the actual meaning of the text, Maribel? |
| | 23 Mei 2007 13:21 |
| | How about "The controversy made me stronger"? |
| | 24 Mei 2007 11:55 |
| | Yes, the last one is the actual meaning (you find it in my earlier comment too with >>> and <<< .
I can live with controversy (although I like more the fuss) |
| | 24 Mei 2007 14:27 |
| | OK - I'll leave it as is. Are you a native speaker of English, BTW, Maribel? |
| | 24 Mei 2007 18:31 |
| | No, I am not a native. I am just a curious one commenting a lot, want to explain and get explanations, love discussions etc. |
| | 24 Mei 2007 18:37 |
| | Oh. Why do you have English as your primary language on your profile, then? |
