E Bindstouw udkom i Randers i 1842. Den 23. juli averteredes den til salg i Randers Avis. En uges tid forinden havde dog Blichers medtaler ved Himmelbjergfesterne, litteraten Fr. Sneedorff Birch givet en smuk anmeldelse af bogen i Ny Jyllandspost (15. juli). Men iøvrigt forblev værket uomtalt. En litterær begivenhed uden for de selvoptagne københavnske cirkler var utænkelig ― også dengang. | | First part of a comment written in danish about a 19th century work called "E bindstouw" written in jutlandic dialect by Steen Steensen Blicher. |

| E Bindstouw was published in Randers in 1842 | TraduçãoInglês Traduzido por Zwenni | Língua alvo: Inglês
E Bindstouw was published in Randers in 1842. The sale was advertised in the newspaper Randers Avis on July 23rd. One week earlier, on July 15th, the literary critic Fr. Sneedorff Birch, Blichers co-speaker at the Himmelbjergsfestival, had published a nice review of the book in the newspaper Ny Jyllandspost. But otherwise, the book was not discussed. A literary event outside the self-centered Copenhagen circle was unthinkable - even back then. |

Looks like a good translation to me
But as my Danish is not great, I have set a poll to get other people's opinions too.
One question: would 'literary critic' not be better than 'litterateur' here? I know the word exists, but nobody ever seems to use 'litterateur' in English.
Let me know and I can change it in your translation | | | 20 Julho 2010 17:25 | | LeinNúmero de mensagens: 3389 | | | | 20 Julho 2010 17:58 | | | Hi,
I guess you are right and "literary critic" would be the better choice | | | 20 Julho 2010 21:12 | | piasNúmero de mensagens: 8113 | E Bindstouw (The knitting room)
It was advertised FOR SALE... | | | 20 Julho 2010 23:45 | | | Wright, it seems a lapsus, I don't understand danish but I see, "for sale" also. Thank you very much to all of you specially Zwenni. But it's not necessary that you translate so perfectely, it was only the meaning, but if you like, enjoy the discussion. | | | 21 Julho 2010 20:18 | | piasNúmero de mensagens: 8113 | Never meant to sound picky...
But since a poll was set, I guess tiny typos & small differences from the original shall be "reported" too. | | | 22 Julho 2010 18:19 | | LeinNúmero de mensagens: 3389 | Plus, as falgonà says, we're just enjoying the discussion
Pia, how about 'The sale was advertised'?
Do we need the word 'sale' at all here or is it implied in 'it was advertised'? CC: pias | | | 22 Julho 2010 21:12 | | piasNúmero de mensagens: 8113 | Lein, I like your suggestion, but if you think it's unnecessary to include the word, I trust you. You are an English expert, I'm not!!
PS. I enjoy the discussion too... even if it doesn't seem so | | | 23 Julho 2010 11:49 | | LeinNúmero de mensagens: 3389 | thank you! |
