When it felt death was upon it, it would build a funeral pyre, and sing just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on this earth, just this one superlative song. The old phoenix was then consumed in flames and burned to ashes. A new phoenix would then rise from the funeral pyre. The phoenix flies far ahead to the front, always scanning the landscape and distant space.
