| | Hello,
I guess this text doesn't observe cucumis.org rules...

| | There's not a conjugated verb in the sentence.
Could you change it into:
"Jeg er et dyr"? CC: Bamsa |

| | I guess so, but it's like saying "i, an animal" instead of saying "i am an animal" but if the translation turns out the same, then there's no problem. |

| | Yes, but unfortunately if we don't add a verb the request will have to be removed. You submitted the request after checking a box in the page containing our 9 submission rules. By doing that you agreed with our terms of use.
Rule #4 on that page reads:
[4] INGEN ENKELTSTÅENDE ELLER ISOLEREDE ORD. Cucumis.org er ikke en ordbog og vil ikke acceptere anmodninger om oversættelse af enkeltstående eller isolerede ord, der ikke danner en hel sætning med mindst ét bøjet udsagnsord.
So, I'll add the verb and release your request for translation, OK?

| | I still believe that you can say what i originally wrote, "I, an animal".
I agree that it's not a sentence per ce, more like an expression or a saying.
I understand Rule #4, but i think it leaves out a lot of sayings like what i first wanted translated. But that's not for me to decide.
All i want to know for sure is, is the translation the same for "i am an animal" as if you were to break the rules, and translate "i, an animal"? That's all i want to know, then i promise i won't request such rule breakingly pile of words in the future.
Regards. |

| | OK, Ruben, let's see if one of our Latin experts can solve your problem
@Aneta, could you please post the difference in Latin between these two lines?
"I, an animal" and
"I am an animal"
Thanks in advance CC: Aneta B. |

| | Much appreciated |
| | 29 Abril 2010 15:18 |
| | "I, an animal" --> Ego, animal.
I am an animal --> (Ego) animal sum.
|

| | But, if you think about "wild animal" it would be "bestia" instead of "animal"... |

| | Many thanks
My initial search came up with "ego an bestia", good thing i didn't go out and got it tattooed on me.
So "ego, bestia" it is.
Thanks again, and for the admins patience with me.
Regards, Ruben. |

| | You're welcome.
I think also that the comma between "ego" and "bestia" is not needed. I wouldn't put it on your tattoo...
Hm, I just felt you meant "wild animal"... , though there wasn't any context what could suggest it. |

| | I see. Well "ego bestia" looks better too. It's because pf my philosophy about all humans are nothing but animals. |
