that
myself | Nota acerca de la traducción | iste (m), ista (f), istud (neuter) = that ipse (m), ipsa (f), ipsum (n) = myself/yourself/himself/herself/...
There are three demonstrative pronoun/adjectives in Latin:
1) hic, haec, hoc = this (referring to a person or an object close to the speaker)
2) iste, ista, istud = that ((1)referring to a person or an object farther away from the speaker than "hic" - (2) giving sometimes to the noun a pejorative meaning, i.e. "iste vir" = this/that BAD man)
3) ille, illa, illud = that ((1) referring to a person or an object father away from the speaker than "iste" - (2) giving sometimes to the noun an emphatic meaning, i.e. "ille dux" = this/that great chief/general) |
