It does not sound exactly right here in your translation:
Kanske en dag jag kommer att säga dig
I would prefer:
Kanske kommer jag en dag berätta för dig
Do you agree? |

| XiniNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1655 | All that you say is Bible for me.
I edited, but the work is yours...
By the way, there is a rule to know when I have to invert the Subject and Verb order?
Jag kommer => Kommer Jag |
| | 3 Decembrie 2007 07:17 |
| piasNumărul mesajelor scrise: 8113 | Hm...you ask 'tricky' questions it realy depends on..
If you are going to do 'something',
ex: I'm going to catch the bus, that will be:
Jag kommer att... (Subject first)
If you ask as a question the verb has to be first:
kommer du ta bussen...
did that help? |
| | 3 Decembrie 2007 08:34 |
| XiniNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1655 | Hm...I know the order has to be switched in question, like in English.
But why should I say:
Kanske kommer jag en dag berätta för dig
And not
Kanske jag kommer en dag berätta för dig
which is the normal Subject-Verb-Object structure?
? |

| piasNumărul mesajelor scrise: 8113 | I really don't have an answer Xini, I don't know the normal Subject-Verb-Object structure. It just doesn't sound good to say: Kanske jag kommer en dag
It sounds (like you always say here on cucumis )
'a bit awkward', not good!
I can't explain it to you...I wish I was a teacher or someone, you know a person that deal with swedish in daily life...as I told you, I am just a native swede, NOT particular educated in swedish
Xini, I think maybe Figge2001 knows this 'rules' and are able to explain (?) he seems to be a very GOOD translator.
See ya!

| XiniNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1655 | Yes, I know Mats, he was the first to introduce me to Swedish...too bad he has not enough time to access this site regularly
Anyway no problem

| piasNumărul mesajelor scrise: 8113 | Oh..You know him, I don't, but I can see now (when a lot of Swedish translations are in the 'poll') that he really has many good ideas
I know he has been asked to do the 'expert-thing', but he has said no ... that is really sad...since I think he could do a great job. But we have to accept his decision. Now...I really doubt if it was the best thing of me to accept this...I LIKE IT (it's not that) but...the job that has to be done is much more than I could imagine Great anyway if...there would be more swedish experts...we REALLY need them, so many translations waiting...
Btw: I can see that we acctually got one moore Swe.exp. but I have never seen him log in, since I became a member in September, do you know him?
Have a nice day Xini,

| XiniNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1655 | Yes, rchk, he quitted after a short time, I haven't seen him "getting around much anymore" (quoting a famous jazz standard). I didn't deal with him so much.

| | Hej Pia!
I would prefer to put an "att" in front of "berätta". (But it is not absolutely necessary, of course). I think it sounds good now! (Jag skulle godkänna den!)
Xini, on this webpage under "grammar" and then "wordorder" there is a couple of examples that maybe could help you (?): http://www.nordiska.su.se/komloss/
