Hello! I'm afraid we don't have the right translation here, I just noticed that one French translation from the English did reproduce the same mistake. But this is, as mentioned under the word to be translated, a medical term it is about; I sent a message in French to the requester, asking her more precisions, about this "disk" (is it a surgical instrument or a prothesis that it is about, or couldn't it even be an anatomic part-between a specific vertebra-?)
I'm waiting for the requester's answer...

I googled the German term, and even looked for images, and they were all mechanical pieces, so I thought the translation seemed OK. Even in medicine, mechanical parts are used. The requester even said it's from the field of medical technology.

I guess we need more of an explanation from him, though.

Yes, I sent her a second message in English, and I noticed she logged in since, but she didn't answer my request. Because all the translations that were done just follow the English one (Spanish, French, Italian, only the Portuguese one was done before the English one,I think...)
Because if mechanic parts are used in medicine too, I think they haven't got the same names; of course, a lot of terms working with disk can be found in automotive parts, or computer parts, but about medicine terms, like you did, I had a look at google's, then in the Wikipedia, but didn't succeed to find whatever would suit to this specific German medical term...

1) I think the term may be the same in English regardless of the meaning.

2) I sent her a message in German.

Hello, kafetzou, I had a confirmation about the translation of this word by its requester, and I apparently was wrong to worry about it, because "disque d'appui" was the right one, so that "support disk" is right as well, and the other translations (Italian, Spanish, Portuguese) are also right! So this "Abstützscheibe" is a prothesis, like the requester told me.
Sorry for the unconvenience! Cheers!

Thanks, Francky. I just changed the English to "support disk" from "supporting disk".
