I am at my friends' complete disposal I cry neither over the past nor over yesterday Do not wonder my darling, she is not mine Even the one I didn't want Noone has been able to fill his shoes yet
Did I find a man and not love him I gave my life for every one If only I would donate my heart To someone who is not worthy?
| Remarks about the translation | I would have given my life for every one -> meaning for all those whom I have ever loved |

Nice translation
A few minor things:
- I could ever give my life to anyone -> what do you mean here? It sounds a bit strange in English; maybe we can improve it, if the poem allows us to.
- Could we change the last sentence to
'to someone who is not worthy'
or maybe
'to someone who is not worth it'? | | | 22 August 2011 21:24 | | | Hi Lein
-I could ever give my life to anyone -> The poet couldn't find a woman who is worth to love. But he tried in his past, and did everything. He tells that he was even willing to give his heart or spirit because of his love..
I see this sentence is wrong. It can be -) I shared my soul with everyone (every woman in his all life)
-The last sentence -> *to someone who is not worthy* sounds better
| | | 25 August 2011 21:38 | | | - I never ignore my friends any day -> I am at my friends' complete disposal.
- I never think the past or yesterday -> I cry neither the past nor yesterday.
- The other one,which I didn't love -> Even the one I didn't want
- I can not even get her to be mine -> His shoes didn't fill yet. (No one loved me except his)
- I could ever give my life to anyone -> I gave my life for everyone
- Was I supposed to donate my heart? -> If only I would donate my heart | | | 25 August 2011 16:33 | | LeinNumber of messages: 3389 | Hi ekızılok
I have edited the points I asked about above; please let me know if you don't agree!
I have not incorporated rollingmaster's suggestions yet; could you let me know whether you agree with all or some of them?
I have also set a poll. | | | 25 August 2011 21:28 | | | I agree w. rollingmaster. | | | 25 August 2011 21:44 | | | I'm not sure whether "His shoes didn't fill yet" is correct or not.
"No one filled his shoes yet" is more suitable in English, I think. | | | 4 September 2011 23:59 | | | It is hard to find somebody to love -> Did I find a man and not love him | | | 15 September 2011 12:24 | | LeinNumber of messages: 3389 | hi ekızılok
Could you let me know if you agree with rollingmaster's suggestions (and angelrolls')?
Then I can edit and accept.
Thanks! | | | 15 September 2011 22:01 | | | I agree | | | 16 September 2011 12:49 | | LeinNumber of messages: 3389 | Thank you all! |
