However, there is no subject but I suppose it can be translated as it is (swimming alone). | | | 27 červenec 2009 14:13 | | | Problem is when this text will be requested into other languages and the infinitive translated, which we don't want, as we do not consider infinitives as conjugated forms from a verb (infinitives are findable in dictionaries).
So it would be fine to add a subject (eg : "Jeg svømmer alene"
Is that the correct way it reads in Danish?
Thanks a lot! | | | 27 červenec 2009 14:25 | | | but Francky, the verb IS conjugated...
However, if you think it is necessary to add a subject, then yes, "jeg svømmer alene" is correct. | | | 27 červenec 2009 14:38 | | | I'm afraid actually another user submits a request from this text into another language, and then it will be translated at the infinitive form, as this gerundive can also be interpreted as "action of swimming" (without a subject, thus without the verb to be conjugated) eg : into French, it will give : "nager seul" Translation will be correct and the infinitive used. Adding the subject does that there is no ambiguity at all : verb is conjugated.
This is why I'll add the subject in this text.
