Wouldn´t this be "mit hjem er dit hjem" (I realize that the verb is missing in the Italian version, but as far as I know, it´s a fixed expression in Italian which is why I think it corresponds to the Danish "mit hjem er dit hjem" )

I have to disagree with you, zuzu, especially if you look at the comments made by the person requesting this translation (see the English version or read my copy-paste below):
Ian says: In Italian, does this mean
Make yourself at home
i.e. please treat my house as your own house, and do whatever you want here?

The meaning that I want is "My house is your house",but only with the few words I used in Italian.
Yes,the large-meaning is "Make yourself when you are in my house".
Thanks a lot!

Therefore, even if the verb should be left out in the Danish version, it should say "hjem" and not "house" because in Danish we wouldn´t say "mit hus er dit hus" but rather "mit hjem er dit hjem".

PS: just for the record: the Spanish version also uses a verb (the verb "to be" ) "mi casa es tu casa"

Good morning,
I need the shortest translation in every language. For this reason I prefer no verb.
As I've already written here, the meaning is "Make yourself at home-Faites comme chez vous".
I trust on you for the best translation...also if I'm sorry because we have in Italian other synonyms of "casa" but not the difference between "home" and "house" in English...and I see in Danish too!!! In Italian, if I want to say that "casa mia è casa tua"...no way...you can use only "casa"!!

Thks!

In Danish, one would definitely say 'Mit hjem er dit hjem'. It would make no sense to say *Mit hus er dit hus' as 'hus' is simply the building made of bricks and mortar while 'hjem' is the intangible state of spirit which makes us think of a certain place as home, not a mere house.

I definitely agree with Anita, "Mit hjem er dit hjem" is how we will say this in Danish - it's not a literal word-by-word translation but it's the most Danish way to express the meaning.
