I remember you said that names were untranslatable... | | | 13 Tháng 3 2007 17:10 | | | seeyou, if you ever go to India, your name isn't going to change, it will be the one which is writen in your passport. In hindi writing, yes, it changes, but in all the languages using the same alphabet as we use, it remains the same.
Paulo Henrique is Paulo Henrique all around the world. | | | 13 Tháng 3 2007 17:11 | | | Some names have their translations. But not all! | | | 13 Tháng 3 2007 17:18 | | | As I recently said to JP, my name is Franck, but if I ever go to Spain, my name isn't going to become "Franco", or "Franz" if I go to Germany...
This is a real topic!
I notice there are mostly Brasilian people to ask for translations of first names and family names.
Maybe I'll open a topic tomorrow about these translations which cannot really be so called, except for ancient names, like Turkish names or Greek names, which have got a meaning, you know, like "Phillipe" which means "horses lover", u.s.w.

| | | 13 Tháng 3 2007 23:16 | | | I think I've been there once, but probably didn't know what to add, I'm going to check on this forum, and maybe post something there.
And any time you want to talk about any topic, just send me a link, because there are many forums and it is not always easy to find between two editions... |
