| Come all, let's get acquainted | UmsetingEnskt Umsett av smy | Ynskt mál: Enskt
Come all, let's get acquainted Let's make things easier Let's love, let's be loved,
My duty is for the love A friend's home is the hearts I've come to build hearts. | Viðmerking um umsetingina | an alternative translation for the first verse would be "let's know each other"
a literal translation for the last verse would be "I've come to make hearts" but it would not make much sense in English |

Síðstu boð | | | | | 30 Januar 2008 18:10 | | | Ah - Yunus Emre!
I think the last line is not translated correctly. First of all, it's not "the hearts", as that would be "gönülleri". And I don't think it means to pacify them, but I don't know what it does mean!
Also, there should be no "with" at the end of the first line. | | | 30 Januar 2008 18:16 | | smyTal av boðum: 2481 | Actually, there is this expression; "gönül yapmak" in Turkish meaning "hoÅŸnut etmek" which I have translated in that meaning, but I think it's not what it's meant here as you say, it's probably "to make hearts" because the line before the last line says "A friend's home is the hearts" so, he will "make homes for the friends" , I'll change it that way.
Yunus Emre'nin ÅŸiirlerini biliyor musun? | | | 30 Januar 2008 18:18 | | smyTal av boðum: 2481 | Ok, I've deleted the "with" at the end of the first line and I've changed "to pacify hearts" as "to build hearts" | | | 30 Januar 2008 19:07 | | | Good - yes, I know Yunus Emre's poems, and I have several standard translations of them into English, but this one is missing one line of each of these verses - the last line of the first verse, which is "Bu dünya kimseye kalmaz", and the first line of the other verse, which is "Ben gelmedim da'vî için." |
