| | Original form of translation before editing:
I have read about a woman, living in Australia. She is a aboriginal and has . that means that she is not black enough. Her name is Rachel. Rachel was ... at year 6. Rachel's ... is an arbo...too. She does not care if she is different. She is very satisfied to be whom she is? She is thinking that it is important to know who you are?
---
This seems to faithfully reflect the idiosyncracies of the original text, so I'll put it through the lightest of editing! |

| | Hello pias, is
på år 6
a common way to say in Swedish
at 6 years old?
Should we translate it that way?
|

| | Sorry, Ian - I didn't see you here - I changed "year" to "age".
Do you want to put it to a vote? |
| | 25 Oktobar 2007 03:04 |
| | Yeah, "age" was what I thought too, but I just thought I'd check with the translator first, before putting it to a vote, because this source text was so Godawfully Bad, it just might have meant "at year 6"... |
| | 25 Oktobar 2007 03:07 |
| | Naaah...
Let's go to the vote; I can't figure out any conceivable reason how it could mean "at year 6...! |

| piasBroj poruka: 8114 | Hi, I see you already edit this text, and I think your decision is right!
anyway I shall answer your question Ian..
NO 'på år 6' is not a common way of writing
(I've never heard)about age.
'på 6 år' = in 6 years, BUT
I'm almost sure the requester means her age,
I think(?) you could say at 6 years old, or rather SHE WAS 6 years. |

| | De felaktigt översatta småorden skapar förvirring och förstör förståelsen. |
| | 26 Oktobar 2007 10:40 |
| | "too" - översätts till också |
| | 26 Oktobar 2007 13:37 |
| | pias, what you're saying is "at age 6" in English.
I can't understand what vivien and Jeesem said. |
| | 26 Oktobar 2007 15:06 |
| piasBroj poruka: 8114 | Ok Kafetzou, I get it.
vivien is saying:
the wrong translated smal words create confusion
and destroy the understanding.
Jeesem is saying that:
"too" - translates to also
I dont understand what they are pointing at,
maybe they look at the source text, and thought that one was the one to vote..???
|
| | 26 Oktobar 2007 23:46 |
| | Yes, this confusion about "which text to vote on" seems to be very common among people new to Cucumis! Maybe we need to indicate more clearly somehow which one is the translation we're asking about?
It's kind of counter-intuitive, too, because the source text is on the right and the translation on the left, which is the opposite of the way anybody who isn't Arabic usually reads! |
