| | I think maybe this should "handsome", and not "beautiful" - apparently the addressee is a man. Is that right, iepurica? CC: iepurica |

| | Nope, there is "beautiful" in this case.
The initial text says "frumoaso". "Frumoasa" is the feminin of the adjective in Romanian, in this case "frumoaso" being the imperative form of it. If there was about a man it would has been "frumosule" ("frumos" is the form of the adjective for both masculin and neutral gender).

| | Well, in that case I wonder about the German version, which has made it masculine. But I don't understand what you mean by "imperative" - only verbs can have imperative forms (stand, sit, talk, etc.). So is there any clue as to the gender of the person here? |

| | Sorry - I didn't notify you, iepurica - I still need your help with this one. CC: iepurica |

| | Hello Kafetzou, yes, there is an indication of the gender.
frumoasofemininebeautiful lady
frumosulemasculinhandsome gentleman
In this case, the requester is the one who received this message and I guess she wants to know what it means.
It's a reply to this one.
Hope this helps.

| | Thank you, it does, although the one it's in response to doesn't help (because there's no gender indication there, as far as I can see). |

| | You're welcome!
maybe it's a conversation between two women |
| | 15 Junho 2008 17:57 |
| | OK, thanks - I needed only to know the gender of the beautiful one, because it was mistranslated in German. |

| | It was a mistake of mine. In Romanian we have cases, one of them being called "imperativ" and which gives a termination to any part of speech - adjectives, nouns and so on. I just assumed it is called the same in English. I know that English has not cases in the way Romanian or German or even Faroese have.
And in the Romanian text "frumoaso" is the feminin form of the adjectiv, as I have already said. "Beautiful" was correct in this case.
Besides, if Rodrigues has done translation according to the Romanian text, I have to say that he got probably a bridge from somewhere else and maybe there it was wrong translated. |

| | No, Andreea, I think he used my English version, but anyway, he could't have known is feminine, because in English, beautiful provides no clue about gender.
Maybe I should have mentioned something in the comments. I'll do that from now on.
But I assume it can be easily corrected .
I don't think it's Rodrigues fault, but mine. I'm sorry.
