| | Hi merdogan
"...full of..." would be better than "full with"
I've set a poll.

And I didn't know 'affectation' was a word until now lol.
But I'm not sure whether the French 'artifice' would suggest more *deception* / trickery, than affectation, which a dictionary informs me means 'behaviour intended to impress' ? |

Artifice = joy |

| | Hi all
Thanks Francky for the "with", I must have misexplained what I meant
I agree with you here that "affectation" does not seem adapted to the text.
The French dictionary "Le Petit Larousse Illustré" ed. 2004 defines the word "artifice" as a
"procedé ingénieux, habile pour tromper; ruse"
which translates as
"ingenious process, fit for deceiving"
Maybe it would be better to put
"My life is full of pretence"
What do you all think? |
| | 23 Janeiro 2009 16:21 |
| | Perhaps "deception" or "deceits" would fit... |
| | 23 Janeiro 2009 17:02 |
| | I guess pretence is a good idea Tantine |
