Pensar em um só corpo,em uma só mente sem...
Text
Submitted by Otávionaves
Source language: Portuguese

Pensar em um só corpo,em uma só mente sem mentiras.
Viver em um horizonte falso, no país das maravilhas.
Os Deuses de uma só nação, fazendo um baile de máscaras dentro de muitos corações.
E se a verdade não for verdade?
Eu prefiro estar morto.
Remarks about the translation
Esse pequeno texto faz parte de um trabalho pessoal de caráter poético.Gostaria da tradução "ao pé da letra".Grato desde já.

Title
Cogitare de uno solum corpore
Translation
Latin

Translated by goncin
Target language: Latin

Cogitare de uno solum corpore, de una solum ratione sine mendaciis.
Vivere in falsa spe, in terra miraculorum.
Dei unae gentis saltationem personarum intra multa corda faciunt.
Quid si veritas non veritas sit?
Mortuus esse mihi melius placet.

Remarks about the translation
<bridge>
To think about only one body, about only one mind, without lies.
To live in a false horizon, in wonderland.
The Gods of only one nation do ("are doing") a ball of masks within many hearts.
What if the truth isn't the truth?
I prefer to be dead.

Yet before Alexia's confirmation of your bridge, I'd like to make some suggestions to think them over, my dear latinist.

1.
de unico corpore - about unique/special body

about only one body --> "solum de uno corpore"

and “de una mente” , but not necessarily, because it means: “unanimously”!
So rather not “mente”. Maybe “ratione” would be suitable here? What do you think?

And because of the same reason: “unicae gentis” --> “unae gentis”

2.
"in a false horizon"? What do you mean by the expression? Is this an idiom?

In wonderland - in terra miraculorum --> just super!!!!

3.
Siquando veritas non veritas sit? --> Quid si veritas…

4.
"Antefero mortuus esse". (I don’t like it, sorry)

Better would be: “moriri mihi melius placet”
or “mortuus esse mihi melius placet” at the most.

Ooops. I've made a mistake in an order:

"solum de uno corpore" --> de uno solum corpore"

Fixes done, thanks. As for "horizon", it is employed in a figurative sense here, meaning "hope, expectation, perspective". So I changed "horizonte" by "spe". I think "expectatione" would fit as well.

Dear goncin, it looks better now, but:

de una sola ratione --> de una solum ratione

("solum" = an adverb)

I have one more suggestion if you don't mind.

You translated;
a ball of masks --> 'saltatio cum personis"

I propose here rather: saltatio personarum

My best regards!
