Hans Poulsen (1960) born in Froðba, Suðuroy, while his father was helping a brother of his who was priest there. When Hans was seven, his parents moved to Runavík on the island of Eysturoy. Unfortunately, later he lost his mother, whom he mourned a lot. He was only seventeen when his first book was published.

Hi iepurica,

"while his father was helper of his brother, who was priest there. "
That's not clear...whose brother is that? Hans's or his father's?
(I mean...was the priest Hans's brother or Hans's uncle?)

Perhaps "while his father was helping a brother of his who was a priest" would sound better.

Anyway, this still doesn't make clear how they were related, but the structure is a little better.

What do you think?

It is about Hans uncle, so I'll modify according to what you've suggested.

Or... could I have translated "while his father was helping his own brother"? Or is still ambigous?

"his own brother" would still sound weird, but in a different sentence could work.
