And this is the dome west of Mitzpe Shlagim, at an elevation of 2224 meters above sea level, from which, with good visibility, there is a lookout of up to 150 km away. Mt. Hermon is a narrow and elongated mountain ridge, which is a part of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range. It faces south-west to north-east, and is approximately 60 km long. Israel holds only 70 sq km of Mt. Hermon, which makes up 7 percent of the mountain's total area (some 1000 sq km, most of which are in Syrian and Lebanese territory). Most of the Israeli territory upon the mountain is a nature reserve, the Hermon Reserve.
