I'm sorry. I was being very persistent. Please forgive me. I am extremely regretful. I did not mean to harass you. I am writing this to try my luck for the last time. If you want, I can get lost forever, but I can't live without you. Would you forgive me? | | Ben sensiz yapamam --> I cannot make it without you (but this may sound ambiguous here) |

harass ...> disturb
but I cannot live ...>but I can not (can't) live (be)...
"to disappear" fiilini kullanabiliriz. Ne dersin? CC: Mesud2991 | | | 6 říjen 2012 16:30 | | | Merhaba Bilge,
TeÅŸekkürler dikkatiniz için. BildiÄŸim kadarıyla 'get lost' aynı zamanda 'disappear' anlamına geliyor. | | | 9 říjen 2012 20:52 | | | considering the text above, a few thoughts of mine:
-although it has the right word to word meaning, isn't it better to say 'I am asking for your forgiveness' (or 'I beg your forgiveness') here, than 'I beg your pardon'?
coz you know, 'I beg your pardon' is used more as a polite way of saying 'Sorry, I didn't get that/I didn't mean to say that/I do not agree.'
-I was being ...
- harass
- cannot (cannot=can not=can't)
- get lost | | | 9 říjen 2012 21:32 | | | "I beg your pardon" simply means "sorry", Figen Hanım.
Here is the dictionary definition of 'I beg your pardon':
used to say sorry when you have made a mistake, or said something wrong or embarrassing (http://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/beg) | | | 9 říjen 2012 21:42 | | | please do not misunderstand me, Mesud, what I wrote is not way different from what you say.
I agree that 'I beg your pardon' is exactly the meaning, word by word. but, I've tried to bring your attention to the fact that this expression is not commonly used as a simple 'sorry' (at least, in my oppinion and observation). | | | 9 říjen 2012 21:53 | | | No, I DO NOT misunderstand you - never ever. I appreciate any comments.
Have a look at this example:
Oh, I beg your pardon! I didn't see your foot there! (retrieved from TFD) |
