| | "Ich habe dich wirklich vermisst" is "I have really missed you"; the English bridge is different. The difference is important, because one (the English) you would say in a letter or phone call to someone absent, and the other (German) you would say when you see or are about to see someone who has been absent. |

| | Hi Una Smith,
My translation is from the Dutch version.
Therefore, I cannot say which of your suggestions is the best in this case, because I cannot read the original language (Arabic).
Maybe someone can help out here?

| | all correct apart from 'i really miss you' is 'ich vermisse dich so sehr' o.e. |

| | Was hältst du von meinem Vorschlag da oben, Heidrun? |
| | 12 October 2008 12:02 |
Du könntest aber eine/n Arabisch-Experten/In fragen, ob man das ("...as if I had treated you badly" ) genauso gut sagen kann. |
| | 13 October 2008 00:27 |
| | Although I must say that Heidrun's proposal
sounds not bad at all ("...as if I had treated you badly" , I'll wait for an Arabic Expert to decide which way it should go.

| | Can you help us here? The sentence in English "I feel that I was delinquent with you", can I say it in a different way, e.g.: "I feel as if I had treated you badly"??
What do you think about it?

| jaq84Number of messages: 568 | I don't think they are interchangeable!!
I wouldn't love to substitute one with the other, at least not in all cases.
"I feel that I was delinquent with you" means to me that I didn't do what I had to do in fact I did nothing regarding a certain situation.
"I feel as if I had treated you badly" means I did do you something and it was harmful.
They may sound interchangeable but not for this text. and that's an opinion.
I hope that helped

| | Hey Heidrun,
Dein Vorschlag hört gut an.
Hey Jaq84,
Iamforaustria has a proposal:
"as if I haven't treated you right"
What do you think, comparing this to the original text?
|

| jaq84Number of messages: 568 | You know, after all I think it is hard to be litteral in translating that one.
So, that sounds ok.
Or 'as if I haven't treated you good enough'.
I think it works both ways.
Have a good day.

| | Hi jaq84,
Thanks for your reply.
Maybe Italo07 can edit the text, according to Iamfromaustria's suggestion?
"...als hätte ich mich dir gegenüber nicht richtig verhalten".

| | I have already done it |
