Det var en vacker svan som skulle flytta.
Flytten skulle till Lund där svanen träffat sin kärlek.
MÃ¥nga kartonger och tunga saker blev det.
Resan var lång men äntligen vad den vackra svanen framme.
Huset var fint och en vacker damm fanns bredvid.
Den vackra svanen hade fått ett bra jobb.
Det kunde inte bli bättre.

Plecarea unei frumoase lebede
Translation

Translated by rocitizen
Target language: Romeens

A fost odată o frumoasă lebădă ce trebuia să se mute.
Trebuia să se mute în LUND, acolo unde lebăda îşi întâlnise dragostea.
S-au dovedit a fi o mulţime de cartoane şi de lucruri grele.
Călătoria fuse lungă, dar frumoasa lebădă ajunse în sfârşit.
Casa era primitoare, cu un lac în apropiere.
Frumoasa lebădă îşi găsise un loc de muncă bun.
Toate mergeau bine.

Remarks about the translation
"Toate mergeau bine" sau "Nici că se putea mai bine (pentru lebădă)" .

Bună,

Câteva idei:

* beaucoup de cartons... - multe ambalaje din carton (în traducere trebuie să fie doar o variantă, ori laşi hârtie, ori carton.)

* călătoria fuse lungă, dar frumoasa lebădă ajunse în sfârşit. (le voyage fut long, mais le beau cygne...)

Hi!

Just to be sure of one line from this text:
"MÃ¥nga kartonger och tunga saker blev det." /" Ceci faisait beaucoup de cartons et de choses lourdes."

I understand only French, but I know "faire" can have more meanings... In Romanian is translated as: "This (one)/It was making a lot of cardboards/carton wrappers and other heavy things."

This is my only question regarding this text.
Thank you very much!

Hi Freya!
It means "there was a lot of boxes" (here "faire" is the equivalent of "to be", it is about making an idea about how much stuff and how many boxes were needed. Lene could also have translated with "cela représentait beaucoup de cartons et d'objets lourds".

Hope it helps!

Hello Freya

You already got an explanation, but I would translate it: "It became many cardboards and heavy things."

Now I am more confused. Hmm, "it became" like what? The swan's new home?

"It became many cardboards and heavy things" - the old place where the swan lived ? Is it like this to be understood or?

I won't accept the translation until we all get to an agreement of translation. This is a sure thing.

Thank you both!

Well, this is a way of saying it, that is very much the spoken language, when you put the verb and subject at the end to emphasize.
I'd say: there turned out to be lots of boxes and heavy things.
Or if you're YODA : Lots of boxes and heavy things there turned out to be.

Yoda

But...I'm confused now! What has Yoda to do with this translation?

Yes, Freya. I think it is the same meaning as the French version. "ceci faisait" is about the result obtained once things were wrapped in boxes, one could figure out only when things were put in boxes. So "it became"/"ceci faisait" have the same meaning here.

OK then, pretty hard translation this one. The more comments you see below a translation, the more "heated" was that translation...

Good that Pia brought some color with YODA!

Thank you all!

Ha ha! Pia, har du inte hört hur Yoda alltid sätter verbet sist när han snackar??
