But the writer uses the word "roads" metaphorically.
I try to mean: when she goes another country, life will make her an angel because of her stubborn and responsible attitude. We can also say that ; when a foreign country and her stubborn attitude comes together, life makes her an angel. | | |

or this one, which is a lot looser, but makes more sense:
When her determination, sense of responsibility and stubbornness are put to the test in a foreign country,
I think it would be easier to make a decision if we knew the purpose of the translation. If it's to sell a book, the 2nd choice might be better, as English-speaking readers would be sure to understand it (assuming that I understood the meaning of this phrase correctly).
