Pão do anjo | Remarks about the translation | Deve ser [angelicus], não anjelicus. |

Last messages | | | | | 1 May 2008 21:01 | | | Triton , "panis angelicus" isn't "bred of heaven" (panis coelicus), but "the bread of angels".
O pão dos anjos!!!!
| | | 1 May 2008 22:01 | | | Ahh, silly me.
Thank you for that correction, Pirulito. | | | 4 May 2008 16:39 | | | O correto seria "O pão do anjo".
| | | 17 May 2008 21:15 | | | "angelicus" is just an adjective.
i make you an example with the english word "golden"
"golden bread"...it means: Bread of gold! --> pane dorato-->pane d'oro [in italian]
so, "angelicus" means "regarding of the angel" or "of angel"
in italian [for those who understand italian] is "pane angelico"
There isn't any plural in the latin sentence...because "angelicus" is just an adjective!
But! if you say "pane degli angeli" in italian is not so wrong... I mean: maybe is wrong following the correct grammar, but correct by the meaning
If we are not so "strict", "Pão dos anjos" could be good too. | | | 17 May 2008 22:05 | | | Grazie Camello
Even that way, it's better put in the singular
