This is a (n almost) tasteless vegetable (Sechium edule) called "chuchu" in Portuguese, "chayote" in English and "佛手瓜" in Chinese(thanks, Wikipedia!). But people like it and insist in using it for salads...

Yes, I searched it too, it is called 佛手瓜 (buddha's hand melon), but simply I have never seen it before. As explained, it was introduced from southeast Asia (which is further from Americas) to China in 1915. And it is grown in many provinces of China. But unluckily, I simply have not seen it, nor have I ever tasted it.

I always eat pumpkins, both long and round ones.

The word xuxu comes from the expression xuxu beleza that means a good thing, a cool thing.

When menininha said that the forum is a xuxu... () she meant that it's great, this was at the beggining of the forum and we were very happy that people were participating.

I also hate the vegetable... Iearch!

Have you never seen "chuchu ao molho branco"???? That IS very tasty (maybe because of the "white sauce" )
