Hi Bhatarsaigh,

If I change the line

'cause of you i got friends

to

thanks to you I've got friends

will the meaning still be okay?

I hate to be a real pain but this translation is full of small errors... Let me start at the beginnning...
It should go like this: If you hadn´t existed, I would have died.
My life would have been bad.
I didn´t have any other friends but then you came
you helped me up again
and you stay
here by my side
Thanks to you I got friends
real friends who stay [with me]
friends like you.

Note that the last sentence is not a direct translations, it DOES really say "some like you", as Bhatarsaigh wrote, I just thought it sounded better this way.

I would prefer something like this...
" If you hadn`t been born I would have died
it would have been shit
I didn´t have a friend
but then you came along
you helped me up again
and you stayed by my side
thanks to you I got friends,
like you, who stays "
but I´m not shore =)

"om du inte hade funits" is not equal to if I hadn't found you but rather If you had not been there I would have died. my life had been (and not was) shit. i did not have a single friend. /.../ Thanks to you I got (and not I've got) friends. Not some like you but rather friends like you OR those like you

The translation is not good at all unfortunately...
This is how it should be:
"If you didn't exist I would have died...
My life would have been shit...
I didn't have one single friend...
But then you came...
You helped me back up again...
And you stayed...
Here with me...
Thanks to you I made friends...
True friends that stay around...
People like you..."

The last row of the English translation is incorrect. A more correct translation would be "friends like you", based on the poetic style of the text.
