"Do not burden yourself with the problems of others. Be content with your own."
content = villig til at lade sig nøje med |

| gamineNumărul mesajelor scrise: 4611 | Hi Minny, don't agree with you concerning "content".
"Satisfied is the right word for "tilfreds", but agree with "burden".
Still think it should be "with others' problems". |

I vote for "content" in this context.
About "the problems of others" Maybe I am a little old fashion. I guess that both are right. :-))

"Do not carry other people's problems. Be satisfied with your own."? |

| gamineNumărul mesajelor scrise: 4611 | It's fine for me. It conveys the meaning perfectly.
I agree. Thanks,Lilian. CC: pias |

I agree with Lilians proposal, but I'm not a Danish expert, nor native Dane. I made a comment since I thought that "Slæb" has the same meaning as the Swedish "släpa" (to drag, haul??) Though.. after I had wrote that post I became a bit unsecure, I actually was about to delete it!! Even if people say our languages are so similare, I often find that your words have different meaning than ours. Thanks for the CC. anyway :X |

A good translation into German reads:" Belaste Dich nicht mit den Problemen andereI hope that this clarification is helpful? :-) |

| gamineNumărul mesajelor scrise: 4611 | Hi Minny. Concerning your German sentence:
"Belaste Dich nicht mit den Problemen andere"
I'd have chosen the Danish words: bebyrde/belaste
which in English would have given i.e. "encumber"
or "carry". There are so many synonyms, so which one choose??????
I personally think that 'carry' suggested by Pias
and Lilian's final suggestion is ok. But I'm not a professional translator, I can only say what littlee I think. |
