Stoppare subito
Remarks about the translation
It's a score direction for instruments, asking the player to immediately stop (muffle, dampen) the sound (e.g. to dampen a cello string after a loud pizzicato). It must be formal and it will appear on a score.

Remarks about the translation
I am going to put it to a vote but it seems like someone is looking for a word in English rather than a translation.

dampen is right, it means to make less intense or strong (besides making damp), but...

What about Sudden dampen ?
