Title
Please let us know when the other musicians have...
Text
Submitted by kafetzou
Source language: English

Please let us know when the other musicians have determined what keys the pieces will be played in.
Remarks about the translation
This is an e-mail to the leader of a Turkish choir accompanied by a some Turkish musicians from me (a musician who will join them later).

I have tried to translate it into Turkish, but I'm very unsure of one vocabulary word (key) and the grammatical structure, so I wanted to see how a Turkish native speaker (hopefully with some knowledge of music) would translate it.

turkishmiss is right. Although this captures the general meaning, it means this: "Please let us know what key the other musicians are going to play in."

But in fact, it's not only the other musicians who are going to play in those keys (possibly different ones for different pieces) - we all are! It's just that the other musicians are going to determine the keys.

Thanks for changing it, efozdel, but it's really incorrect now. It's not the musicians who are going to let us know, it's the choir director, who is the person I am writing to. Also, the concept of "determining" the keys is still not in there.

I had written it as follows, but I know it's wrong:

Diğer müzisyenler parçaların anahtarlarını kesinleştirirken, bize haber verebilir misin?

But maybe this will help to give you an idea of the situation.

" Lütfen diğer müzisyenler parçaların ne tonda çalınacaklarınada dair karara varınca bize bildirsinler " now it is better now ? what do you think about it ?

The current form of the translation is not correct. but the last offer Efozdel made is OK.

"Diğer müzisyenler parçaları hangi tonda çalacaklarına karar verdiklerinde bize haber verin lütfen."

I think efozdel well summarized the translation.

in other words we can say, 'Diğer müzisyenler,*parçalara hangi tonda giriş yapacaklarını (parçaları hangi dizide çalacaklarını) belirleyince,lütfen bize bildiriniz.'

*buradaki ana fikir,bu parçanın hangi dizide(scale) çalınacağı soruluyor. örneğin, 'that piece is in the key of Do major' demek bu piyesin Do major dizisinde çalınacağını belirtir.

OK - I would accept this, except that I'm not a Turkish expert, so I really shouldn't. Handan or Figen, can you accept it?

Actually, my message was directed to FIGEN KIRCI and handyy, who are already Turkish experts. But strangely , it appears that I already accepted the translation (I thought I hadn't done that).
