Hej Pia

What a nice text for once

The English is fine so I've set a poll.

Betydelsen är ju rätt, men jag tycker att "kärleks" och "ljuset" ska skrivas ihop i ett ord: Låt Kärleksljuset Lysa

Oh, sorry, sorry ,sorry! I was thinking that this was a translation in the other direction (from English into Swedish). Now I notice that it is the opposite, and then I think it is a perfectly good translation! That is: no complaints!

Should rather be: Let the Light of Love Shine

I would leave out the word "The" in the translation, since it is probably not a specific light, but more a symbol or a notion, which is meant here. Is it Common to write all words with capital letters in Swedish? My English translation would be: "Let Love Light shine", since "Love Light" is kind of a name or title, but verbs would normally not be written with a capital letter.

Hello sismo
I wrote with capital letters, because the source is written that way. NO it's not common to write so in Swedish. The "the" is there because "ljuset" = definite form.

Even if this is "meaning only" I think that the source is not correct, since there should not be space between "Kärleks" and "Ljuset". You are right sismo, this is one word. This is something we use to call "särskrivning" , I don't know what the English word for that is, very common misstake here.

Tantine, do you think that I shall edit the source? "Kärleks Ljuset --> Kärleksljuset"

Ps. Piagabriella was pointing out that in her post above, in Swedish.

Hi Pias, Hi All

If you could correct the source text it would be a good idea, then if we need to use it as a source into another language it will written in correct Swedish.

As for the phase itself in English, I agree that the "the" is a little clumsy in English and I am wondering if "Let Love's Light Shine" could be an appropriate translation from the Swedish. Remember, the most important thing in a translation is that it should never "look" translated.

"The love light" is fine! That is what the source text says. "The light of love" would be "kärlekens ljus" as is "love's light". It's not the same thing.

Tantine,
I think I'm vacillating here, but
after a tip from someone, I found this site HERE, line 2. I wonder why can't one just change "carry" --> "shine"?
