Tek başıma yaşamak gerçekten gözlerimi açtı Maddy. Bir çıkmaz yoldayım diye düşünmüşken bunun başıma gelen en güzel şey olduğunu fark ettim. Sadece bir arkadaşıma yardım etmeye çalışarak keşfedilmeyi çok uzun zaman bekledim.

Hi, mrsonsoz;

Can I make a suggestion? "Kendi halinde" means being humble. I think it sould be "tek başına yaşamak".

Hi, I've just realized that the english text has a mistake but I'm not sure. Is "I waited so long" supposed to be "I've waited so long"? Plus, "zamanımın parlaması" doesn't sound good. How about "hayatımı yoluna koymak"?

...gerçekten gözlerimi açtı...> gözlerimi gerçekten açtı
Sadece bir arkadaşıma yardım etmeye çalışarak zamanımın parlamasını uzun zaman bekledim...> Uzun zaman sadece bir arkadaşıma yardım etmeye çalışarak yaşamımın başarılı olması için bekledim.

Hi English experts,

Could one of you edit the text please? I think "www" should be removed. Also, if you could tell me what shine means here, I would be happy.

Thanks in advance

Hi Bilge

I think you need a real expert to edit the original (I'm an assistant eexpert so I don't have all the tools for English). As for 'to shine', here it means 'to be the best I can be, to reach my potential, for others to see all the (good) things I am capable of'.
Hope this helps

According to Lein, could the best phrase be "öne çıkmak" or "dikkat çekmek"?

Hi Lein,

Thanks for your answer. Yeah, it really helps

Burada söz konusu olan dikkat çekmek değil, belki öne çıkmak daha uygun ama yine de tam karşılamıyor sanki. 'keşfedilmek'e ne dersiniz?

I agree with you. "keÅŸfedilmek" is more suitable.

Well, I don't understand many things in this text...
To be honest, the last two sentences just look like a collection of phrases, "thrown together" to make sentences!
---
Living on my own has really opened my eyes, Maddy. This is clear: "Maddy, I just want to tell you that it has been an informative experience to live on my own: I have learned many things (about life)."
I thought I had reached a dead end
I had thought that any further effort would be useless
finding this was the greatest thing thats (that's) ever happened discovering that this was wonderful -- what's the logical connection with the first half of this sentence?? I don't know...
www.- no idea what this is supposed to stand for...
I waited so long for my time to shine, I was waiting for a long time, to get the opportunity to show how much I could do and to get other people to realize how good I am
just trying to help out a friend. only attempting to assist my friend -- again, what is the connection with the first half of the sentence?? no idea...
---
If an English native speaker expert had seen this before it was translated, it probably wouldn't have made it past Standby...
