It's not my wife, but my child's godmother. All I have is a really beautiful baby girl for whom I live. |

最新記事 | | | | | 2009年 5月 12日 14:02 | | | Hi Lena,
I remember having seen something about that word: "koubara". I have the feeling that it does not mean exactly "godmother".
Anyway the other line is a bit complicated. What about instead of: "The only thing I have is a little baby girl who is really beautiful and I live for her only.", something like: "I only have a really beautiful baby girl for whom I live"?
| | | 2009年 5月 12日 17:24 | | | Well, Koubara should be the godmother to your child, and I don't really know a word for that. If not just "my daughter's godmother" .
About the last part, maybe "All I have is.."
My interpretation is that the man has lost his wife, and only has his daughter. And he lives for her only.
Maybe I'm wrong | | | 2009年 5月 12日 18:28 | | | "All I have is a really beautiful baby girl for whom I live" would be fine.
About that 'koubara', in Spanish or Portuguese we have a word for it: "comadre", but not in English, so I guess you should say: "my child's godmother"

lilian you are right....the friend 'lost' his wife and now only lives for his little girl..
I understand 'comadre' as translation for koubara..
I have to learn greek :-) | | | 2009年 5月 13日 12:15 | | | What about "She's not my..."? Instead of "It's". | | | 2009年 5月 13日 12:43 | | | Tks....I envy you all for knowning greek.. :-)
I have to learn and fast
Tks once again | | | 2009年 5月 13日 12:45 | | | "It's not...", "She's not..." or even "That's not..." would be correct, depending on the context. CC: xristi |
