| LeinAntal inlägg: 3389 | Uf... Thanks Italo - that's quite a lot! I'm surprised you didn't reject it straightaway!
Can you help me out - why should it be 'dieser' here? I know 'in' can be followed by third or fourth declination but I always have to guess which one
As for the one but last line - would you say 'können' is the right translation?
Thank you! |

| | It's better to use the "Konjuntiv II" könnten
I'll explain you "diesem" later because I have to go now, ok?
I didn't rejected it because I wanted that you learn from that what you did wrong |

| | It is the third case (dative) but "hidden" in a demonstrative pronoun that is feminine. Here you have a list of how it has to be declined. |

| LeinAntal inlägg: 3389 | but Gesellschaft is neutral isn't it? Does 'dies-' become feminine just to confuse all non-native speakers?
I'm not trying to discuss it as you two obviously know what you're talking about - I just don't understand (so probably would keep on making this mistake)!
Help much appreciated! |

| | Oh, I see you've already sorted your problem out. Actually, there shouldn't be any exceptions to this rule, as it is basic grammar. It would be really confusing if a feminine noun would suddenly become masculine regarding the pronoun |

| LeinAntal inlägg: 3389 | That is why I was so confused... I let the Dutch word 'gezelschap' (neutral) confuse me |
