Text

Source language: English

I live according to my own demons.
Remarks about the translation
My phrase to be translated to Ancient Greek is 'According to my own demons' based on the greek ΚΑΤΑ ΤΟΝ ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑ ΕΑΥΤΟΥ (according to his own demons) I would like this to be 1st person, and if possible a seperate transaltion for the phrase 'I live according to my own demons' in to ancient greek. Many thanks.

Warning, this translation has not been yet evaluated by an expert, it might be wrong!
Title
Ἐγὼ κατὰ τὸν δαίμονα ἐμαυτοῦ βιόω.
Translation
Ancient greek

Translated by alexfatt
Target language: Ancient greek

Ἐγὼ κατὰ τὸν δαίμονα ἐμαυτοῦ βιόω.
Remarks about the translation
In caps: ΕΓΩ ΚΑΤΑ ΤΟΝ ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑ ΕΜΑΥΤΟΥ ΒΙΟΩ.

1) ΕΓΩ/Ἐγὼ = means "I", can be omitted;
2) ΒΙΟΩ/βιόω = means "(I) live", can be replaced with ZAΩ/ζάω (similar meaning with a tiny nuance of "general" living);
3) ΚΑΤΑ ΤΟΝ ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑ = means "according to my own demon". The plural form ("according to my own demons") is ΚΑΤΑ ΤΟΥΣ ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑΣ.

Hi nicko12,

ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑ (in minuscules δαίμονα) is singular number, not plural. It means "demon".

Which source should I follow for my translation? The English text ( "demons" ) or the suggestion in Greek you offered ( "demon" )?

Hi Alexfatt,

If you could follow th suggestion in Greek I offered, so that the trasnlation remains as close to the original ΚΑΤΑ ΤΟΝ ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑ ΕΑΥΤΟΥ as possible. Would you also be able to supply me with the translation in capitals, and not minuscules? Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks for replying.

I edited the text and added all the possible variants of this translation. I could not give a text written in caps as the main translation (it is forbidden by Cucumis's rules to write a text in caps when it's not strictly necessary), so I just wrote it in the "Remarks about translation".

I'll call an admin and ask him to start a poll for my translation. Unfortunately we have no experts for Ancient Greek, so the only way to evaluate such translations is to ask other members (who know Ancient Greek) for their opinion. I'm afraid it will take some time though.
