Etter en brann i 1624 ble den flyttet og nyanlagt under navnet Christiania av kong Christian IV. Oslo er bÃ¥de en kommune og et fylke. Nabokommunene til lands er i vest BÃ¦rum, i nord Ringerike, Lunner og Nittedal, i Ã¸st Skedsmo og LÃ¸renskog, i sÃ¸r Enebakk, Ski og OppegÃ¥rd, og til sjÃ¸s i sÃ¸r Nesodden (halvÃ¸y).

Oslo was also called Tigerstaden. The Royal Palace, The Parliament, The House of Government, The Supreme Court and most of the other national public government institutions are situated in Oslo.
