| smyNumber of messages: 2481 | this translation is really good ankarahastanesi, I've made some edits but I'm not sure about the meaning of "Embassy's Note (Büyükelçilik tezkeresi)" |
| | 25 December 2007 16:38 |
| | it may be:'büyükelçilik notu' or 'büyükelçilik kaydı' and last part of the translation may be 'Büyükelçilik notundan dolayı onurlandığını sunmaktadır'. In my opinion 'başvuru' is not suitable. thank you very much for your helping.

'büyükelçilik notu' is better and the translation for: "the honour to refer to the..." must be like above. But we may have a poll |

| | The phrase "present its compliments to" is just a formal salutation.
Also, "the honour to refer to" is not "baÅŸvuru yapma onurunu" - but I don't understand what verb goes with "the honour" - "presents the honour to refer to" doesn't make sense. There is something wrong with the original text here. |

| | Masterburak, "and the honour" kısmında bir kelime eksik değil mi? |

| smyNumber of messages: 2481 | I think you are right about there is a missing verb here Kafetzou, I've made a search in google and here is a paragraph which is nearly the same with the source text here (http://fletcher.tufts.edu/multi/texts/bh903.txt):
---------
"The Embassy of the United States of America presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and has the honor to refer to the Agreement on the..."
------
I've found similar texts and each has this verb ( has/have the honor to refer to) and it should be the case here.
So, may that be "atıfta bulunma şerefine/onuruna sahiptir", but I'm not sure, this is rather pompous style of writing , what it is the alternative sentence for " has/have the honor to refer to..."?

| | "would like to refer to"? It simply means that whatever comes next will be about Note No. 16. |
| | 26 December 2007 16:44 |
| smyNumber of messages: 2481 | then it would be "gönderme yapmak/atıfta bulunmak ister" ankarahastanesi, could you edit it? |
| | 26 December 2007 17:21 |
| | It has nothing to do with "sending" - does "gönderme" have another meaning here? |
| | 26 December 2007 20:41 |
| | atfen onur duyduğunu sunmaktadır:gönderme yaparak onurlandığını sunmaktadır:atıfta bulunarak onurlandığını sunmaktadır. |

| | Sorry - you lost me. Türkçem var da o kadar yok. |

| smyNumber of messages: 2481 | gönderme yapmak = to refer to |

| smyNumber of messages: 2481 | I've edited it according your suggestion Kafetzou (would like to refer to), and it means "atıfta bulunmak/gönderme yapmak ister" |
