Ta suggestion est une possibilité, d'accord. Si le mot doit être lu comme "förnamn", cela voudrait dire que l'auteur a oublié une lettre. Soit.
Mais je pense qu'il faut ici plutôt chercher dans le champ de la "signification symbolique" du prénom Jarl. Je pense alors que le mot devrait être "förman" qui signifie aujourd'hui chef de main (marine), contremaître, mais dont la traduction littérale signifie "homme devant", autrement dit "chef".
Et dans ce cas l'auteur n'a qu'interverti deux lettres.
Et comme entre deux maux, il faut choisir le moindre...

Pia, the translator said it should be typed "förman" instead of "förnam" in the Swedish text, should we edit this word, as the requester probably did a mistake when he typed this text?

piasAantal berichten: 8113 | There are many misspellings here, vague source text! I don't know if it should be typed "förman", but it could be! When looking at the meaning of "Jarl" (wiki) it says chief, chieftain ...and "förman" is the same as "foreman or supervisor", so my guess is that you are right about it.
