It is a participle from "praegusto, are" and I think the author says here about "eating body of Christ" - about Eucharisty (?) I don't know how you call it in English...

For example, we (Polish people) call the process "accepting body of Christ"...? And it is about the process before the death. Am I clear now, dear Lilly?
