Works of poetic folk literature in mother tongue education play an important role in the proper learning of Turkish. Lullabys, folk songs, epics, riddles, and folk sayings acquaint children with the essence of their mother tongue. The words, sayings, word forms, language esthetic, original idioms, and wise sayings passed down from long ago for a given language can be presented along with the works of folk literature. Language education, as a form of culture transfer as well, strengthens children's knowledge of their country as well as their language.
