| | I am not any English expert but I vonder if "iðrum" is included in the sentence "liberated itself from the earth" and you translated "brotið sér leið" to "liberated" |
| | 2010년 4월 20일 09:33 |
| | You are right, I excluded "interior", thanks!
I thought broke free/ liberated was synonyms?? But if you prefer the other one, no problem. What about: "...broke free from the earth's interior" |

| | 2010년 4월 20일 10:43 |
| | It is about something that broke a way out from the interior of the earth.
"liberated itself from the earth" sounds like it isn't there anymore.. |
| | 2010년 4월 20일 10:46 |
| | And you mean that, the current translation isn't about that??
Lilian... please, reject my translation! |
| | 2010년 4월 20일 11:08 |
| | You don't need to reject it. I'm just commenting your translation, that's what the poll is about |
| | 2010년 4월 20일 11:15 |
| | It is a monster face at the surface of the earth spewing fire and sulphur into the atmosphere. A volcano? |
| | 2010년 4월 20일 11:40 |
| | Yes, Ernst, you have understood the meaning.
The poll is for constructive critisism. |
| | 2010년 4월 20일 12:08 |
| | Ah, you must have edited your post (20 April 2010 10:43) at the same time as I answered. Cause "liberated itself from the earth" sounds like it isn't there anymore.. was NOT there then.
Hm, that is constructive critisism. So maybe: "broke free" is better? |

Scary face indeed! |
| | 2010년 4월 20일 14:04 |
| | Yes it is a scary face. I saw it in our Faroese internet portal, and the picture crossed my mind when I saw this request |
| | 2010년 4월 20일 14:14 |
| | Jeg forstår oversættelsen jeg synes at den er fin. Jeg har flere men jeg har ingen poeng |
| | 2010년 4월 20일 14:48 |
| | Ernst, they report mostly here about the cancelled flights, the ash cloud, but not much about what happens on Island!! There was a short reportage yesterday, uff... so much ashes near the volcano. Poor people & animals.
juhlstein, bra att du är nöjd. Jag satte in lite poäng på ditt 'konto', så jag kan få öva lite mer på Isländska (ha ha ha) |

| | 1. uomtvisteligt - indubitably.
2. spytter = spits
3. a face of some kind of monster.
4.no trans. of word "indre"!
5. Consequences.
6.the largest traffic disruption ever in peacetime Europe. |
| | 2010년 4월 21일 13:03 |
| | Jair,
the translation is NOT made word-by-word from Danish. For example: I think "surely" has similare meaning as the Icelandic word "óneitanlega" (indisputably) About "consequenceS", I wrote that, but Lilian edited it as singular.

| | 2010년 4월 21일 17:04 |
| | The picture surely reminds of some kind of monster, which has liberated itself from the earths corr and now spews fire and sulphur into the atmosphere. The consequence is the greatest medd in european transport ever in peacetime. |
| | 2010년 4월 21일 18:23 |
| | Tak for poengene pias :-) Jeg har en anden oversættelse klar |
| | 2010년 4월 23일 13:46 |
| | Well, gathering all the information above I guess a good solution would be something like:
"The picture surely reminds about some kind of monster face emerging from the entrails of the earth and now spews fire and sulphur into the atmosphere. The consequence is the greatest chaos in European traffic ever in peacetime".
What do you all think? |
| | 2010년 4월 23일 14:03 |
| | It sounds fine to me |
| | 2010년 4월 23일 14:18 |
| | Me too, thanks Lilian |
