I am to write an essay about the play Twelfth...
Text

Source language: English

I am to write an essay about the play Twelfth Night by Shakespeare. What I'm worried about mainly is how I structure the essay. I want it to be very well organised. Last time it was worth it, but it did take a lot of time changing paragraphs, restructuring things, etc. I realised I should have thought about it before starting the essay.

So my question to the experienced is what is the best way to structure an essay about a play, especially about the likes of Shakespeare? Historical context is also meant to be added into the essay.

Shakespeare’in Twelfth Night (On İkinci Gece) oyunu hakkında bir deneme yazmak zorundayım.

Merhaba kafetzou!

Could you please have a look at the first sentence and tell me if the verb to be to has the same meaning with to have to? If it is not the case, could you please explain me its meaning? Şimdiden teşekkürler

"to be to" means "to be supposed to" or "to be expected to".

Thanks a lot

And one more thing, how can I translate the verb to be meant to into Turkish? Could we say gerekmek? I have done some research but haven't found anything. Does the last sentence mean:

-Historical context has to be added into the essay. ?

Thanks again.

That means the same thing - "to be supposed to". You could use -mali/-meli: eklenmelidir.

OK, I see. "-meli / malı" has the same meaning with "gerekmek". So I won't change it. Thank you very much for your generous help
