Hej chrc@ofir.dk

"ørene" ? Mener du "ørerne" ?

De to "ting" vi har på hovedet kan staves på to måder i flertal: "ørene" eller "ørerne"

Hvis vi taler om penge staves det kun på en måde i flertal: "ørerne"

Jeg tror du mener "ørerne" ?

Hi Efy

"Spar på ørene og lad daleren rulle" is an idiom, more precisely "spar på skillingen og lad daleren rulle". The English idiom is "Be penny wise and pound foolish"

Actually the second part of this scentence is equal to the first part:

Spar på ørene og lad daleren rulle eller
spar på småmønterne og lad de store mønter rulle

Word-by-word translation

Save the pennies and let the "daler" roll or
save the little coins and let the big coins roll.

Daler

Hi have you translated both sentences. I am a little confused.

Is the following sentence 2 sentences?
Paucis nummis prudens es, plurimis nummis stultus. Parvii pretii nummos serva, concede ut magni pretii nummi volvantur.

Like this or what?

Paucis nummis prudens es, plurimis nummis stultus.

Parvii pretii nummos serva, concede ut magni pretii nummi volvantur.

Paucis nummis prudens es, plurimis nummis stultus.
...Save the pennies and let the "daler" roll

Parvii pretii nummos serva, concede ut magni pretii nummi volvantur.
...save the little coins and let the big coins roll

Is this how it should be or am I wrong

Hi chrc@ofir.dk, yes it is the way it should be.

You could have bothered yourself to use punctuations in the text you submitted in first, in order to separate the two sentences in it.
If the translation were as messy as the way you typed the source-text, I guess you'd be at least as confused as now anyway.

Sorry about that, didn`t do it to confuse.

Is this correct: Parvii pretii nummos serva, concede ut magni pretii nummi volvantur.

= save the little coins and let the big coins roll

I need it in a tattoo, so I only need the translation noe for save the little coins and let the big ones roll.

Thanks in advance, I am happy that you can help me

Best regards
Christian

Uhm, it's really quite confused.

Paucis nummis prudens es, plurimis nummis stultus.
...Save the pennies and let the "daler" roll

Parvii pretii nummos serva et concede ut magni pretii nummi volvantur.
...save the little coins and let the big coins roll

This is the way it is.
If you need only "save the little coins and let the big ones roll", then you should take only the 2nd part:

"Parvii pretii nummos serva, concede ut magni pretii nummi volvantur"

You can use this sentence for your tatoo.
Hope it helps!
