Until now, battery technology has hindered electric vehicle performance innovation. In 2000, US company Altairnano Inc. established a research programme to create an ultra safe, high power battery using cutting-edge Nanotechnology. As a result their lithium titanate technology battery is widely recognised as the best available in the world today.

Hi kafetzou!

I just want to ask you 2 questions. The first is about the word "titanate". I searched it in dictionnaries but I couldn't get any result. What does it mean?

Also, is the best available equal to "the most available" ?

Thanks in advance

Hi Bilge

I've never heard of a lithium titanate battery, and I've never heard the word "titanate" before. Here's what Wikipedia says about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanate

I would translate it as "titanat".

"The best available" means "the best one that is available", not "the most available".

(satışta en iyisi)

OK Laura, thanks for your generous help I read the wikipedia page but I couldn't find any better translation for the word "titanate". So I'll leave it like this.

Have a nice day or evening, I am not sure

Again, I would use "titanat", not "titan".

Merhaba,

But this is part of a chemical formula: lithium titanate, like carbonate (karbonat), acetate (asetat), or nitrate (nitrat).
