well miriat does sound like an Arabic family name, specifically jordanian, i may have heard it before here is what it possibly means:
Almerya: a city name in Andalus, Spain, read all about it in wikipedia
Mirya: Doubt
Miraya: Mirror in slang (Mar'aa)
now adding "at" at the end makes it a plural form, or a desciption of a tribe in this case, so Humaid: the blessed, Humaidat the family of the blessed...
