Me again...
'used to' in English means he (or she) did this frequently. Is that what the Turkish text says? Alternatives that I can think of are
He (has) removed the thorn from my heart
(with 'has' -> emphasises the result: the thorn is no longer there. Without 'has' -> emphasises the action; makes it sound like a longer process)
or
He used this (an instrument) to remove the thorn from my heart
Also a general remark with your English translations: in English, more articles ('the', 'an') are needed than in Turkish (so not 'thorn', but 'the thorn') - something to keep in mind when you translate!
One last thing: when it is not clear from the text whether 'he' or 'she' should be used, please use one in the translation and explain that it could be he or she in the comments section under the translation.
Please don't see all this as criticism!
Thanks for your help! | | | 11 Dicembre 2010 22:52 | | | hehe, I dont get this wrong since your comments on my English is treasure for me, it makes my English better.
When it comes to the(I started to use articles, previously I thought articles are not as important as you mentioned) translation, "used to" is necessary here since he said formerly, she has been doing that which is removing thorn frequently but has not been doing it now. and in this text, he emphasized the action not thorn's existence.
