"anyway" can be translated into "de qualquer forma", keeping its meaning, indeed.

But he doesn't mean "I just want to be your friend in any way possible" - he means, "It doesn't matter that I added you by mistake, I just want to be your friend."

Acho mais fácil traduzir esse "anyway" como "mesmo assim", assim essa divergência seria evitada.
