Fragment de la description du mont Atlas
Text
Submitted by CocoT
Source language: Francuski Translated by chronotribe

Remarks about the translation

Translated by Efylove
Target language: Engleski

[Mount Atlas] is entirely silent during the day and, isolated, it arouses horror; [at night] it is enlightened by nocturnal fires and it echoes everywhere with the choirs of Aegipans; you can hear the singing of flutes and the tinkle of cymbals along the seashore.
Remarks about the translation
Cap. XXIV, Caius Julius Solinus, "De Mirabilibus Mundi". He's talking about Mount Atlas.

Literally: "it isn't isolated without horror"; "the singing of flutes and the tinkle of cymbals are heard".
"Per oram maritimam" = you can hear the singing of these instruments even along the seashore.
