nego, negare = dicere "non"

My Latin is downright rusty so I'm not sure how I stand on this issue but isn't "nego" something like "deny", "say no"?

Hm... "virtue" I'd translate rather "virtus"..., because this is the most common Latin equivalent for English "virtue"...
