Me again

Could we change this into the sentence below?

If I didn't speak my love (say I love you), the pain of my love would overwhelm me.

(I cheated: I googled this poem and found a translation here because I couldn't think of an appropriate word for 'trouble' )

Ohh, the link you wrote here is not reachable at that moment=) You cheated us again=)

ben sevdigimi demez İSEM = in here, yapmazSAM could be written yapmaz isem, söylemezsem could be söylemez isem. In Turkish, if you use 'isem', you are likely to mention about possibility which can occur and in that case, 'would' gives the exact meaning while translating, at least, I know it as this. Your comment about it is welcome

Thanks for everything btw.

No worries! How strange that the link is no longer available

In English, the word 'if' plus past tense already indicates a hypothetical situation or possibility. 'would' comes in the main sentence. This is how a grammar site explains it:

In a Type 2 conditional sentence, the tense in the 'if' clause is the simple past, and the tense in the main clause is the present conditional:

I wouldn't do that, if I were you
If it rained you would get wet

ah ok, thanks for the information you provide us.

In that condition,
best option here is:

"if I did not speak my love, the pain of my love would overwhelm me"

Thanks..
